I arrived in the USA with the believe that if I keep working hard I could fulfill my passion for research and have a successful academic career. I worked hard and became a citizen based on my research achievements in areas such as food chemistry, food safety, nanotechnology, biodetection and physical chemistry. I was far from imagining that I will come across individuals for whom being born and raised in Africa is synonymous of being less than a human. I could not predict that I will end up in a university where officials rob permanent resident cards, forge the records of an employee, and falsify his performance, with free-pass and no fear of accountability.
“The truth is better than life itself” (Socrates)
I decided to speak out because the truth is better than life itself,
Shying away from such an injustice would have meant a failure to make a better place for my children who have no other land than the United States to call “home”. Speaking out against any injustice everywhere helps similarly situated individuals who are days after days abused and silenced because of their difference (origin, skin color, sexual orientation, etc.).
I thank you for taking your time to read my report. I hope that your understanding of this case will contribute to preventing that another human being experiences what I have endured and continue to endure with my family for nearly four (4) years now.
Best.
